September 24, 1999 PINK FLOYD TO MARK ANNIVERSARY OF "THE WALL Pink Floyd - The Wall on DVD or widescreen video, available December 14, 1999. According to several sources, Pink Floyd are presently in a London studio finishing work on a commemorative recording to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the release of the album "The Wall." The commemorative project may be on store shelves this December. A press release from EMI Recorded Music states that EMI has acquired the rights to five more albums from Pink Floyd's back catalogue, including The Wall, Wish You Were Here, and Animals. The press release goes on to state that "the band is currently in the studio finalizing work on an anniversary album project which is set for release at the end of 1999." Whether the forthcoming project is a new recording is not entirely certain, but seems very unlikely given the band's forthrightness about their inactivity in the past few years. A new album with new songs is still not expected in the immediate future. Sony/Columbia are releasing a special DVD edition of the film "The Wall" which will go on sale on 14 December. Sony's remastered DVD of the film should not be confused with the new The Wall anniversary project EMI has announced.
