LIVE WALL RELEASE DATE REPORTS CLASH
Five independent sources of information from EMI are yielding conflicting information about the release date of "Is There Anybody Out There?" Two sources agree that the street release date for the album is presently March 27, while two other sources agree that the album has been postponed indefinitely.
The first source, coming through fan David Parker, indicates that the limited edition version of the album is scheduled for release on 27 March. In past cases, Parker's information has proven accurate.
The second source is working with EMI to prepare for the album's release in Europe. This source agrees that the firm street date for "Is There Anybody Out There?" is March 27 worldwide. A major launch party is being prepared to take place in Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
A third source, a fan calling himself "Ash" who has contacts who have proven reliable in the past, reports that EMI/Capitol is no longer going to be the company handling the release of the album in the United States. Instead, according to Ash, the album will be released
in the U.S. by Sony/Columbia.
A fourth source, deejay Rick Deyulio in Syracuse, New York, has seen a prep service report from MJI Broadcasting which states that "Is There Anybody Out There?" has been postponed indefinitely. MJI Broadcasting attributes their information to an EMI spokesperson.
A fifth source, working closely with EMI to plan promotions for the U.S. release of the album, also confirms that the album has been postponed indefinitely. This source also confirmed that, contrary to some rumors, the album has not been canceled or shelved; it will still be released.
Which sources are accurate and which are not remains unclear at this time. All five sources have, or claim to have, information that comes from within EMI.
The packaging for "Is There Anybody Out There?" was described by one person who has already seen it as "not as great as I expected." The limited edition CD comes in a carton approximately 12x19 cm in size. It includes a 16-page booklet of photographs. The booklet is approximately the same size as the carton.
The Artist Shop at http://www.artist-shop.com is already offering an import pre-release CD of "Is There Anybody Out There?" for $40.95 U.S. The Artist Shop describes it as a "Japanese version of 2000 release of live recording of 'The Wall' with a limited supplement of a sticker with first pressing only." Details of the nature of the recording
offered by The Artist Shop are unknown at this time.
